The Real Deal (Part 2)

hello again! so from yesterday we continue the top 10 (now down to last 5) things that I am looking for in a leader/president:

5. Humble - Being in government would give one such privileges and advantages in any aspect within the Philippines; It would give a sort of celebrity status to one's name if he/she were in public office. I am sure that there are some politicians out there who really take advantage of their position, not just in government dealings but also in everyday occurrences. A significant factor for me in choosing the next leader of the country is their humility, basically it's either they are humble or not, nothing in between. And as I see it, Manny Villar is probably the most humble of all the candidates running today. Not only did he come from humble beginnings, but he also carried that virtue throughout his life. Villar may have garnered billions of pesos, but it shows he never forgot where he came from. Even before he ran for the presidential seat, he has been helping, assisting, uplifting the lives of the Filipino people in his own way, especially the poor and the oppressed OFWs. It is rare to see him lavishly spending or indulging in unnecessary luxury, and when he does, it is always in moderation and never excessive. Of course you won't see him taking a jeepney or eating in a food stall on the streets, but neither will you see him bullying people around or shoving away people who ask for alms. Villar's humility and simplicity in life would prevent distractions and temptations from occurring given that he wins the seat.

4. Respect - In a very religious society such as the Philippines, respect is a virtue that is highly regarded. Naturally, a representative of our country should have that quality embedded in his soul. Since the president of the country will always deal with a lot of people of diverse backgrounds, he must always treat everyone with due respect, and if the president is not used to giving respect to everyone, then eventually he will be disrespected too by his countrymen. Manny Villar exhibits respect in the highest sense; he shows his respect to the Filipino people through his campaign to be the next president. In actuality, Villar doesn't need to dive into politics, let alone the fact that he is running for president, because he already has everything he needs materially in life. This is where we see how unselfish and sensitive Villar is to his countrymen. It is not of a personal gain to him if he wins the elections, rather it is the country's gain because Villar will only work for the Philippines and not for himself. It is his respect to his motherland that propells him to strive for the President's seat.

3. Experience - It is a known fact that one of the biggest crisis the Philippines has is the poverty issue, 70-80 percent of Filipinos are poor. This has been a problem for such a long time that it seems that it would never go away. The next president should be able to address this issue constantly because it would be foolish to move forward in any development without first dealing with the current problem. Villar evidently sees that problem and he has been proclaiming his battle against poverty since day one. We all know that Villar came from humble beginnings in Tondo, so we know for certain that he has gone through harsh conditions growing up and the ever-present struggle of poverty. Also, it is publicly known how Villar reached where he is today; it was simply a classic rags-to-riches story that cannot be denied. It is actually Villar's journey to the top that makes his competence even better, because in knowing that he has gone through so much life experiences, physically and mentally, the challenge of leading an entire nation would be a motivation for him rather than a burden. An experienced leader knows his people, knows his country, and knows what to do.

2. Track Record - Needless to say, a good track record would equate to a good statesman. But a GREAT track record would equate to... a good president! To check out Villar's track record click on: Legislative (for his legislature record) and Personal (for his personal track record). Tell me then if he has great track record or not ;-)

1. Genuine - Being a genuine leader is probably the most important attribute an aspiring president should have. I firmly believe that leaders are made, not born. Furthermore, leaders lead in essence and from experience, there is no such thing as a make-shift leader where a person attempts to lead in only a single aspect. Among the aspirants running this 2010 elections, only Manny Villar has proven his leadership through his extensive background. In that background it shows that he has been a leader for most of his life, starting from his small family all the way up to the senate floor. Who then, can deny that Villar is an authentic leader of the Philippines? Unlike others who were merely forced or chosen to run, Villar's goal to MalacaƱang is a personal one, one that he promises ultimate service exclusively to the Filipino people.

Hope this helped!!! Choose Wisely, VVVote Wisely!!!

Do not engage in vote-buying! If ever though, just get the money but still vote wisely! ;-)

And if there are other qualifications that you think is important/worthy to discuss, feel free to share it!
