Welcome Back to the Motherland

We're baaaack... Thanks to Sen. Manny!

Overseas Filipino Workers of OFWs as they are more popularly called, are an integral part of the Philippine society. In these times of economic difficulty, they are the ones who feed the country with dollars to keep us afloat. Aside from the benefit the country gets from their remittances, they also flourish the Filipino culture in other countries. Sure, some Filipinos become citizens of the place they are at, but the values, the attitude and mannerisms, are undoubtedly still Pinoy. The conservative and Christian values they have experienced growing up are passed on to their children, as well as the Filipino language. Although I am sure some kids of OFWs are more inclined with the country where they were born/grew up, their parents Filipino influence will be ever-present in their households.

That is why in choosing the president this coming elections, he must have a good plan/platform for OFWs.

The most OFW-oriented candidate I've noticed is Senator Manny Villar. Aside from the media outspread of Villar's advocacy to the poor, Villar has been the spearhead in rescuing oppressed and maltreated OFWs from different parts of the world.

I was able visit the OFW help center of Villar last week and good thing the staff there was kind enough to take a few moments of their time to entertain me.

Kay tagal mo nang nawala, babalik ka rin... babalik... ka rin.

They explained that Senator Villar brings home OFWs in need of help and assisstance almost every month, from different countries. They also have a help line which caters to anyone and everyone who is seeking help to retrieve their loved ones abroad. I noticed that there WERE plenty of people in the office, lined up and waiting for their turn to seek aid. Most of them looked really weary and troubled, and it was a saddening sight. Fortunate for them the staff of Villar's OFW help center were lively and very accomodating.

And I discovered that not only does Senator Villar bring these OFWs home, he provides monetary allowance and sufficient assisstance for the OFWs to reach their provinces/homes. And if you were able to catch it on TV, in the noontime show Wowowee, he gave away houses and lots to Balikbayans who were in need. To see the youtube video of it click HERE

Wowowee

I truly hope that Sen. Villar will claim the presidential spot this year and may he further help our fellow countrymen overseas who are in need. I believe that he is the only one that can truly make an impact in OFW-related issues, given his track record in this aspect.

Go VILLAR FOR PRESIDENT!!!

VVVote Wisely! Vote Manny!
