Surveys? What Surveys???

I have noticed during the past few months, even before campaign season started, EVERYBODY is so concerned with surveys!

I mean, i understand that it gives a little preview of the people's choice, but we all have to realize that the there were merely a thousand or two that were surveyed which compromises such a small part of the country.

I guess the people's fondness for surveys really come from the anxiety of this year's elections. It feels like it has been so long since Gloria Arroyo was in Malacanang that the people are striving, longing for a new kind of leadership.

This thing is what everybody is raving about

Almost every month, SWS and Pulse Asia releases their survey results conducted all over the country. There are also other independent institutions that conduct their own surveys. Common companies that release their own surveys are from newspaper companies. However, since most newpapers have their own bias on which candidate to shed BETTER light on, it would be presented that their chosen candidate is up on the ratings.

For, Manny Villar has consistently done well in the monthly surveys conducted by SWS and Pulse Asia, rating in at either first or second for most of the course of this year's elections.

Noynoy vs. Villar

He was the leading candidate coming in 'official' election season, but just before the new year (2010) a little something called "Cory Magic" happened and before we know it, some weirdo named Noynoy (seriously, you want to call our next president Noynoy? sounds like a joke that is'nt funny) topped all the surveys. It is of very obvioius reasons that Noy only got those ratings from the Yellow Epidemic, really, what has he done before that?

Nonetheless, Villar remains unfazed about this sudden surge of Yellow and he is steady at the top of the polls every month.

I have also noticed that after every survey release, the candidates are asked about their reactions regarding the latest surveys. For most candidates (which is everyone except Noy and Villar), they express their disappointment since they are all far behind in the polls. Noynoy however, has odd and speculative reactions to these surveys. Whenever he recieves a high rating, he rides his high horse and commends himself , becomes self-righteous, and boasts his cause in running for president, which is to get rid of 'evil' and replace it with 'good.' On the other hand, when he gets a low rating, he becomes rattled and acts up like the bratty child that he really is.

Manny Villar however, takes surveys in a very modest way, whether high or low rating. If polls are up, then he simply says 'good job so far' and commends his team's efforts. And when he gets a low rating, even if at times the surveys are totally biased, he just says 'we would just have to work harder'. Thats it, no ranting, no blaming, no tantrums.

Villar has a clear understanding that in this race for the president's seat, one needs to be perseverance, hard work, and dedication... Not one's parents.
