Grace Period doesn't mean Screw-up Period... or does it?

A little over three weeks has already past and STILL, the new government, the P-Noy administration (sounds a little conceited doesn't it?) has been committing blunders left and right.

It started out with the focus on minor problems (wang-wang), to the fine-tune-needing Memorandum Circular #1, to the Corona snub, the to the Media seminars, RH Bill, Taxations, being late to appointments , the Cabinet members chosen, etc.

Whoa, come to think of it, minor problems tend to build up to HUGE problems.

Given, P-Noy has done several moves already, although these moves are merely on Congress level, I think P-Noy hasn't (or will he ever) grasped the FACT that he is the President of the entire Philippines. What of the great and upheaving promises that he has given the whole nation once he is seated in Malacanang? (or should I say Times Street?) Has he forgotten all his speeches and commercials?

From what I see, things are not going too well for the Filipinos let alone the country. It seems like P-Noy is making decisions that either benefit himself and his political party, Or making decisions that would let his supporters say, 'at least may ginagawa.'

People, we cannot have this kind of mentality towards the highest, most revered occupation in any country. We must have some objectivity in viewing out government, regardless of their celebrtity-like status, they ARE NOT CELEBRITIES. How can you celebrate a person who uses YOUR tax money for their monthly trips abroad, or their lavish mansions, or their children who would never have to work in their lives (and even become protected little crooks and addicts), or simply who lie directly to your face just so they can maintain their seats in government? HOW??

Anyway, back to the topic...

P-Noy called the DoJ to review the case of detained Senator Trillanes which is a big mistake especially because of timing and purpose. This is because the new Congress will open in a few weeks, the Senate Presidency is up for grabs and reports say that the LP bet in the race, Senator Kiko Pangilinan is trying to get as much votes as he can.

Sen. Pangilinan claimed that he has 10 sure votes already from his colleagues and Trillanes' vote would be a big contribution. Rumors are former Senate President Manny Villar is the man to beat for the Senate Presidency as he has been courting senators for votes since he conceded from the Presidential elections, way ahead of Pangilinan. Aside from this, Villar has solid allies in the Senate, namely from his own bloc and at least half of Ed Angara's bloc.

Another underlying notion of this petition for review of Trillanes' case is P-Noy's desire to 'have the Senate be in parallel to his platforms and advocacies' OR to simply say, P-Noy's desire to completely disregard the checks and balance of the branches of government and have evertyhing in his favor. How can one not see that once Kiko Pangilinan gets a hold of that Senate President seat, anything and everything P-Noy wants, he will get since Pangilinan ran under the Liberal Party, is close to P-Noy, and was even his campaign manager during his useless Congress/Senate days.

Talk about ignorance of law... tssss

I would like to take this opportunity to say Congratulations to all winners.

But i JUST CANNOT HELP but connect the dots...

I have no PROOF of cheating and i am relying on mere human speculation.. but the major winners: Aquino, BINAY, Drilon, Enrile, RECTO, SOTTO, Osmena, Guingona, BISTEK, JunJun BINAY, Fred Lim. Is it not obvious that these are mostly people connected with the OLD Aquino administration...

Did these people not prove that they have been either corrupt or screwed in the brain about ruling the country? I don't know... really.

I WILL ADVICE EVERYONE TO BE POLITICALLY INVOLVED FOR THE NEXT SIX YEARS AND KEEP A KEEN EYE ON THE NEW ADMINISTRATION. Thank you

The machines that will fail; letters from Boston

It is not as if it is being said for the first time. I repeat what others have said that failure of election will not come from the PCOS but from two other machines - FV (Filipino voter) and FC (Filipino candidates).

The machines are so out of date, they cannot function properly for the selection of leaders for our country. The FV is out of sync and performs as if it has nothing to do with why he is voting a particular FC. The FC operates within this flaw and produces results with nothing to do with FV.

That in brief is the problem we face when the results are known after May 10. When disaster strikes and the country malfunctions (with candidates declaring beforehand that they will not accept defeat) let us put the blame on those who refused to accept that the machines are not and cannot work unless these are fixed.

Among those I turned to in my quest for information that would help voters choose a qualified candidate to be our president is another family friend of both the Aquinos and the Agulars. They formed a tightly knit Filipino community in Boston. Let us just call him Jim because, he, too like so many others who have something to say about Noynoy as unfit to be president of the Philippines does not want to expose himself.

Dear Ms. Pedrosa

Just when I think of giving up on RP...because it doesn't want to be helped...I meet someone of your high stature---who is into saving RP (from dud leaders?). I am naturally encouraged again.

To go into your inquiry, I am sorry to tell you that I do not have any medical information about Noynoy.

Seriously, I don't hope to go into that route. I have always relied on my own personal observation and inference in evaluating a person, and that is how I form my idea of someone who should not even think of being president.

I'm sorry to sound preachy, but I think it is time for us Filipinos to discern that way about candidates who simply "like" public positions, but which are out of their aptitude.

The Agulars and I stayed together everyday of my trip there leading to the Upsilon reunion at the Manila Polo Club. Steve and I belong to that Batch. And to his widow and son's family, it was a sentimental reunion with "Steve's brods."

To this day, we are each other's extended families, as when we both lived in Massachusetts.

Personally, I think the Agulars, (especially the late Dr. S. Agular), are apolitical. But they are very loyal to family friends. The Aquinos are one.

In politics, I am more loyal to RP ( the Republic of the Philippines. That's why Gordon is my candidate. I wish to read more of your regular columns. I think we have many sensible things in common about what is good for RP.

Thank you for this attention…tho' undeserved... but I would rather not be another 'witness to corroborate' the imperfections of Noynoy. I believe we have enough evidence in the open to convince a nation that Noynoy should best be left to himself...not running for president...and certainly not be used---not by his sisters, not by his relatives, and not fussed about by the media.

Unfortunately, the RP media abetted this yet another political aberration. It's our culture and our habit to promote the bizarre and the incompetent, e.g. Erap, Lapid, Revilla, etc.

We prefer to be entertained, it seems that way. And this might sell newspapers, but it carries no responsibility.

I could not believe, for instance, the headlines that came out from both The Philippine Inquirer and the Philippine Star newspapers. They actually hailed the dramatic internal struggle of Noynoy to make a decision for the 'big plum.' Is there a movie about this heir cashing in on a huge political inheritance?

That's right...the media played a big part in making a Noynoy attractive to the millions of impressionable voters. Of course, it's not lost in me that we (you & I?) might be that child yelling to the crowd that the king is shriveled in the head, and has no clothes.

But we have to look back some 30 years ago. How much can we rely on Pinoy "kantiyaw" humor...things said in anecdotal bantering of a small party of friends?

In MA then, I remember asking why..."itong anak ni Ninoy ang layo kung sumagot." (not in the presence of Ninoy, of course.)

And the answer I got was: ..."kasi may kulang." ...which was consistent with what I thought was a missing bolt in his head. (never occurred to me that he would run for president, let alone his mother, Cory!...years after. Cory, I think, was a disaster for RP.)

Thirty years since...I repeated the incident, and the answer I got was: "ikaw naman...! 'di naman gano'n ang ibig sabihin ng "kulang".

And what did it mean? The explanation was that...he was "kulang sa pansin ng tatay"....because all the attention was given to the (spoiled) youngest, Kris. And this, supposedly, had a big impact on the "kid."

I see...but not quite. I may get into EXPLANATIONS, but still this is not the DISCUSSION I want to get into with my friends. So I left this matter to rest. Besides, it is a 30 year-old personal observation of a "kid". Times have changed. I'm often chided. Even some people are able to get out of cancer, so I'm reminded.

Today, I am further reassured, "Have you heard Noynoy speak lately? He KNOWS how to speak in public now."

And is this why 'that kid' is urged to run for president?!?

These letters reinforce the opinion that the validity of a psychiatric report on a person’s ability to lead does not rest on whether the report was signed. Indeed the report can be true even without a signature.

What is necessary is that what it reports can be verified through other means. It is not the signature that makes the report. Experts arrive at their conclusions by observation, asking questions and then evaluating their observations through the prism of knowledge through textbooks and experience. Ordinary people can do the same without having formal expertise.

Reports do not become bogus for a lack of signature. The details of the report have been reported widely and interpreted by its readers according to what they hear, what they see, and make their own profile of the person concerned.

This is the bullcrap that Kris Aquino Twitted (Or Tweeted, I personally don't know because i don't do Twitter) in reaction to her viewing of Pacquiao's latest TV ad wherein he says 'Yun mga iba jan, laban ng laban, wala pa naman nagawa.'

I heard from someone before that those who are defensive are the MOST GUILTY.

I guess that someone is RIGHT.



First of all, Pacquiao never mentioned a single word or name as to who he was referring to so why would the sister of a retard even comment on that? Easy to depict that Kris is defending his brother's 'so-called' (yes, i put quotation marks for redundancy because I need to emphasize) track record of winning elections.

Next, the fact that Kris reacted so abruptly and negatively is that she knows that Noynoy lacks a track record worthy of being called a politician. I mean COME ONE, EVEN LITO LAPID WAS ABLE TO PASS A LAW COMPARED TO NOYNOY WHICH HE HADE NONE.

To add insult to injury, she TRIED to hit back at Pacquiao by claiming her brother has won everytime he ran for a post in government.
HONESTLY, HOW THE FUCK DO YOU COMPARE BOXING TO POLITICS????

There is just no common denominator in those two. and Kris Aquino dares to insult the Philippine's most regarded sports icon? pssshh... She personifies arrogance and elitism.

The question at hand however is... WOULD YOU ALLOW THIS SON (and daughters) OF A BITCH TO RUN AND REIGN OVER OUR PHILIPPINES??? huh?? WOULD YOU???

Why I Won't for Noy

If we were watching a basketball game, we would now be in the last two minutes. The May 10 elections is only less than two weeks away, and anything can still happen.

Despite what the poll surveys say, I still believe that it is a four-cornered fight among Liberal Party standard bearer Senator Benigno Aquino III, Nacionalista Party standard bearer Senator Manuel Villar, former President Joseph Estrada of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino and even administration candidate former Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro.

I have been a journalist for over half a century and I have covered elections since as early as the Laurel-Quirino fight. I know for a fact that there are so many imponderable factors in Philippine elections.

These imponderable factors are vote buying (especially in the provinces), cheating in spite of an automated election, command votes, violence, failure of the Precinct Count Optical Scan machines, disenfranchisement of voters, power outages and even the weather. Hence, I would prefer not to predict a winner at this point.

Santa Banana, despite avowals by the Commission on Elections and sectors guarding our ballots, and while I’m hoping for the best, I also know for a fact that old habits die hard. We should also not forget the Golden Rule in Philippine elections—he who has the gold rules!

The only thing I’m sure of is that I will not vote for Aquino. I’ve cited my reasons so many times before. I will say them again.

First and foremost are perceptions (or rumors) that Noynoy is mentally unstable, having been autistic at an earlier age. He has repeatedly refused to undergo a psychiatric exam if only to prove his critics wrong.

And then, at the age of 26, he reportedly violated the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act by putting up a security agency (bearing his initials, BSA) with his uncle-in-law Len Oreta. The company cornered contracts with sequestered companies during the incumbency of his late mother President Cory Aquino. If this is not conflict of interest, I don’t know what is.

My gulay, Noynoy even had the gall to list the presidential residence on Arlegui Street as the company’s official address!

And then there are the Hacienca Luisita massacres and the Kamaganak Inc. I was among the latter’s victims. I was co-founder of Erectors Inc. (with the late Transportation Minister Totoy Dans). My investment of P200,000 disappeared into thin air.

The same group which comprised Noynoy’s security agency reportedly grabbed an insurance company owned by a Chinese-Filipino who was accused by the Marcos dictators of something. The group then went on to corner, together with the Government Service Insurance System, all insurance contracts of government firms.

Santa Banana, some people really laughed all the way to the bank. The big scam at the time was the GSIS’ striking an insurance deal with Lloyds of London. Can you imagine the kickbacks that some people must have had?

This is why I can’t stomach voting for the son of Ninoy and Cory.

The only thing that’s getting clear to me is the race for the vice presidency with Senator Mar Roxas surging ahead of rival Loren Legarda, although this doesn’t guarantee Mar’s victory yet.

I have always believed that Mar should not have given way to Noynoy. Roxas’ advocacies and programs of government are clearer than Aquino’s.

Sadly, the Yellow Fanatics and everybody else around Noynoy believes that he is the better candidate. They were overwhelmed by the outpouring of grief and support upon Cory’s death.

Filipinos are truly sentimental, sometimes letting their emotions cloud good judgment. Unfortunately, that sentimentalism is still showing in poll surveys. This is why Noynoy is still leading.

As for Loren, I’m not giving up on her, either, because of her advocacy for the environment. I also cannot believe that Loren has lost her constituency that made her No. 1 senator during the 2001 and 2007 senatorial elections.

As I’ve said so many times before, all elections are local. People in the provinces, and even in many areas of the National Capital region, don’t really care who will make it as president, vice president and even senators.

This is why national candidates rely on local politicians to carry them.

I have to say it, but the Philippines is still very much a feudalistic state. People in the provinces rely much on local leaders to provide food on the table, livelihood, education and health care.

That’s why the campaign line of local candidates is: “If you are in trouble and you go to me for help, I also want your help to vote for somebody I am endorsing.”

And that means money for local politicians. In fact, the rivalry is so heated in some areas that there is bloodshed. To local politicians, funding is survival —it spells the difference between victory and defeat.

My gulay, why do you think movie icon Fernando Poe Jr. lost? The usual talk is that he was cheated but in reality, his funding dried up!

Commission on Elections Chairman Jose Melo should not be pressured by business sectors identified with the Yellow Brigade of Noynoy and other segments of society to have a manual count of the May 10 polls.

If Melo and his fellow commissioners relent and submit to this pressure, they in effect would be admitting that automation will not work, and that would be a reflection on the credibility and integrity of the Comelec after it paid P7.1 billion to Smartmatic to give us an automated election.

The only reason I see why Noynoy’s fanatics are insisting on manual count and audit is that they don’t trust Comelec to give us a credible election.

They are also trying to make a connection between the possible results of the automated count and what happened in the 1986 snap elections. This was one of the triggers of the Edsa Revolution.

For the May 10 polls, it will be difficult to contemplate the mechanics of a parallel independent count and a manual audit of results. Such move will open the floodgates of results that can be different from the automated count. And right there and then, a candidate can claim he was cheated. In this case, it could be Noynoy, who now thinks he is a sure winner.

Obviously, some of the faces around Noynoy who are salivating for a return to power are dreaming of a repeat of the walkout of the Comelec computer people during the vote counting in 1986. And for a People Power Revolution. Santa Banana, Noynoy is truly his mother’s son!

In the 1986 snap elections, all that was needed to put to question the entire electoral process was the walkout of 30 Comelec computer technicians to protest the manipulation of the official results to favor Marcos. It was a tipping point. That walkout was re-enacted at the Batasan Pambansa when 50 members of the Parliament then also walked out after Comelec proclaimed Marcos the winner.

It was at this point that then Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile and then PC/INP chief Fidel Ramos broke away from the Marcos regime and led a mutiny leading to the ouster of the dictator. The rest, as they say, is history.

Recall that Noynoy talked of revolt following a failure of elections, leading to non-proclamation. Could this actually be “Plan B” for his victory?

He is running an entire campaign based supposedly on good governance. Everyone else is evil, only he is good.

Magnanakaw ang iba. Siya daw hindi. Emphasis on “daw.”

At first, the strategy seems sound. How else is he supposed to go head-to-head with somebody like Manny Villar, his closest rival?

Villar is second to none in laws authored and passed, Aquino authored zero bills into law – the father is a hero, the son is a zero.

Ang mambabatas na walang ipinasang batas ay pangulong hindi kayang panguluhan ang sambayanan.

Villar made houses affordable for the poor; Aquino’s biggest accomplishment in the private sector is that he made Nikes fashionable for the wealthy.

Villar, despite poverty, was a self-made millionaire at 28. Aquino, despite his family’s affluence, spent 10 of his 12 years in the private sector working in family-owned corporations – the Hacienda Luisita and Best Security Agency or BSA.

The latter, which he set up himself, had his initials BSA – Benigno Simeon Aquino, III.

Aquino sat on the security agency’s Board of Directors, while his uncle Antolin “Len” Oreta, Jr. acted as BSA chairman and president.

Oreta is the husband of former Sen. Tessie Aquino-Oreta who now sits as chairperson of the Early Child Care and Development Council and holds the rank of Cabinet member in the Arroyo administration, along with several other Aquino relatives.

Other directors of BSA were Cipriano Lacson, director-treasurer, George Gaddi, Bienvenido Reyes, Alexander Lopez and Jacob Acuna, known friends and allies of the Aquino family.

The Arlegui House, the official resident of then president Aquino, was declared the company address on its SEC registration documents.

According to Aquino, they never dealt with government. Records say otherwise.

During the incumbency of then president Aquino, BSA secured contracts from government such as Philippine National Construction Corp. and the facilities and buildings of sequestered companies under the Presidential Commission on Good Government.

Its other big clients were AsiaTrust, the Tanduay Distillers of taipan Lucio Tan and Uniwide.

The mere involvement of a the presidential first-son in a company that bids to secure contracts from government, the head of which is his mother, violates the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act of 1965 which states that:

“unlawful for any person having family or close personal relation with any public official to capitalize or exploit or take advantage of such family or close personal relation by directly or indirectly requesting or receiving any present, gift or material or pecuniary advantage from any other person having some business, transaction, application, request or contract with the government, in which such public official has to intervene.”

Noynoy Aquino was 26 at that time. At worst, what he did qualifies as corruption, at best, it constitutes sheer ignorance that he could not tell the difference between what is ethical and not.

Either way, a Noynoy Aquino, does not deserve to be president. The promise of a good government falls flat on its face, on both instances. His anti-corruption platform is a sham; his theory on good governance, hollow in the absence of a good leader.

Nagsinungaling si Noynoy nang sinabi niyang pamumunuan niya ang laban kontra sa katiwalian. Sa murang edad, ay ipinakita niyang salat man ang kanyang kakayahang mamuno ay sapat naman ang kanyang kakayahang magsamantala sa posisyon ng kanyang ina.

Tama nga ang sabi ng iba, kapatid ng sinungaling ang magnanakaw.

And yet again, this was proven true when Aquino was confronted about the issue. He said he no longer had any interest in the company 3 years after it was formed – his resumé and own official website alongside documents from the SEC say otherwise, Aquino was a member of the BSA Board until 2002. Once more, the man was caught lying through his teeth.

I cannot see the logic of Liberal Party standard bearer Senator Benigno Aquino III and his band of Yellow Fanatics. They insist on a parallel count for the May 10 elections and a manual audit of the results after when the automated machines are supposed to give the people a fast and reliable count.

The only reason I can see for Noynoy and his group is that they are preparing for a scenario where, if Aquino loses, they will claim he was cheated.

The National Movement for Free Elections, too, through Yellow Fanatic Joey Cuisia, has been insisting on a parallel count and manual audit of election results. The proposal was thumbed down by the Comelec. Admittedly, Namfrel is biased for Noynoy—just look at the people behind it.

They want a repeat of the 1986 snap elections when the Comelec declared Ferdinand Marcos the winner with 10,807,197 votes against Cory Aquino’s 9,291,761. This drove the forces of Cory to harp on its huge disparity with Namfrel count of Aquino of 7,835,070 votes against Marcos’ 7,063,068 votes.

Knowing the malicious minds around Noynoy, Santa Banana, I’d not be surprised if this is their Plan B!

It’s obvious that Noynoy’s campaign capitalizes on people’s sentiments leading to his late mother’s rise to the presidency: the retreat to Cebu, the millions or so urging her to run for president, or the yellow regalia that went on an extended run.

Events could culminate in Noynoy’s extra-constitutional installation as President or leader of yet another military-backed citizen-led uprising.

Unseating President Arroyo at all costs seems to be Aquino’s strongest motivation. He has even branded his rival as a Gloria proxy. Noynoy’s next course of action after his defeat in the polls—which to me is forthcoming despite survey results—may be to cry out that elections failed or that he was cheated.

For, after all, how could it be possible for Noynoy Aquino to lose when even now people around him are already dividing the spoils of government?

The finding of Pulse Asia that the number of undecided voters is increasing is not at all surprising.

Since people get much of their information on the elections campaign from media, especially from the impact medium of television, and with all the mudslinging going on, people are now doubting the credibility of the candidates.

Take the case of Aquino claiming to be incorruptible and vowing he won’t steal. How can people believe him when records show that at the early age of 26 he took advantage of his mother’s presidency by putting up a security agency which bagged contracts with government-sequestered firms?

If many Noynoy supporters are now having doubts about their candidate, I can’t blame them.

If I don’t mention Senator Jamby Madrigal, who is among those lagging behind in poll surveys and who must now withdraw from the race, that is exactly my intention.

She is not running to win, anyway. She just wants to demonize Villar.

Noy, the Cory Copycat

How arrogant can Noynoy get???

Apparently that question can be answered by simply listening to anything that comes out of his crooked, salivating mouth.

One example of it however, can be depicted in his response to his desired living in Times Street rather than Malacanang if ever he is elected president.

First of all, how arrogant can he get when he already made PERSONAL plans of being the president?? I mean, who the hell says this things??? The ONLY statements and plans that a presidential candidate should say and aspire for are plans FOR THE COUNTRY and not you own personal insecurities.

And also, didn't Noy mention that he will ONLY stop smoking once he is the president. So he assumes he will win already??? Thick faced if you ask me.. and so if he does not win?? I'm sure he'll ante the smoking up to two packs a day. Tsss...

I also am speculative that Noy's statement about the Times Street residency is a mere popularity vote scheme to gain more sympathy votes. Since Cory also requested to NOT reside in Malacanang during her administration, I guess Noynoy is simply trying to copy her and let the people know about it so they would remember Cory. Also, the notion of Cory not residing in Malacanang also shows how UNPROFESSIONAL she really was. I cannot argue about her effect on the Filipino people, but seriously, CORY IS HUMAN AND SHE MAKES MISTAKES. And there were plenty of them in fact.

What WE, as Filipino citizens, should get out of this is an awareness of these mistakes so as to not let it happen again. IF CORY'S INFLUENCE ON THE FILIPINO NATION IS SUPPOSEDLY A GOOD/HOLY THING, THEN THE PEOPLE SHOULD EMULATE THAT INFLUENCE AND ACT THE RIGHT WAY. AND IF IT WAS CORY'S INTENTION TO UPLIFT THE PHILIPPINES, THEN SHE WOULD WANT US TO DO WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY, AND NOT MERELY HER FAMILY/CLAN.

Of course, if anyone has the right to copy Cory's tactics, its her son. But come on, Noynoy is a grown man and he needs to take responsibilty for himself, that means being your own man.

But Aquino, the consistent front-runner in presidential preference surveys, acknowledged that such a set-up will likely prove difficult — particularly for his neighbors, who might be hassled by the huge number of people certain to seek the president's assistance.

"Yan inaambisyon ko talaga (That is my ambition). Kailangan at the end of the day kailangan may pakiramdam ka ng normalcy to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground," Aquino said when asked by reporters in Capiz where was campaigning whether he would still stay in Times Street if elected.

"Pero ganun nga ho, iniintindi ko kapitbahay ko. Paano kung napakaraming dadagsa, makikikape, makikibanyo, makikinood ng TV. Baka ako kalmado, normal buhay ko, naging abnormal naman po buhay ng aking mga kapitbahay (But I am concerned about my neighbors. What if many people will pay a visit, drink coffee, use the restroom, watch TV. My life might be calm and normal, but my neighbors' lives might be abnormal)," he said.

Aquino's mother, the late former president Corazon Aquino, lived in in the same Times Street home after her term.

During her presidency, she refused to stay in Malacañang and instead resided in the more modest Arlegui house nearby where windows were not even bullet-proof.

Still NOT Convinced Why HE is Running...

It is quite clear that Noynoy Aquino only joined the presidential race because his family, as well as the infamous Kamag Anak Inc., told him to do so.

Honestly, can ANYONE prove to me that Senator Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino is able, ready, determined, driven, and highly motivated to lead over 9 billion Filipino people?

Personally I have never heard of Noynoy Aquino up until Cory Aquino's passing away. Nothing against Cory, but her burial was a tad bit OVER THE TOP with all the media coverage and the procession rites. This makes me wonder what the motives of this grander than grandeur gesture could be... and soon after that event, I got my answer: NOYNOY

If an individual aspires to become the leader of a country, A COUNTRY, he/she should have been aspiring for that for as long as he/she remembers. Not an overnight decision.

Sure, Noynoy had his family recollection or retreat or whatever to really think about the situation, but really, doesn't that seem so impromptu as if Noynoy was choosing between black or white.

And it shows in his aura and personality that he is incapable of being a good president, or just a president for that matter. I am sick of reiterating what Noynoy lacks, so I'm telling you to simply view him or listen to him when he talks. Seriously.

Manila Standard Reports THE TRUTH

Yet again, after reading the TOMCAT article from Jojo Robles, I checked out the other articles in the MANILA STANDARD and came across two more editorials that is relevant to the recent election fever.

This paper ran a front-page story a few days ago that the Lopez-owned ABS-CBN has become a kingmaker. People get most of their news and information about the forthcoming elections from the radio-television network.

I hate to admit it, but television especially is an impact medium that carries a lot of weight.

Since broadcast must have a franchise and permit to operate, because the airlanes form part of the state’s eminent domain, it’s mandated to be fair, balanced without fear or favor. That’s why broadcast media outfits are under the National Telecommunications Commission which grants them their frequencies.

Sadly enough, the Lopez network, with all its influence, has prostituted freedom of the press with its slanted broadcast. Even its anchors are blatantly biased in favor of Liberal Party candidate Senator Benigno Aquino III.

When columnists and opinion-writers take sides in an election, that’s only one man’s opinion. In the US, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The San Franciso Chronicle and The Los Angeles Examiner also take sides during an election, but they do so only editorially.

But, when news broadcasts and public affairs programs are clearly slanted by a television network, that’s already prostitution of press freedom.

I can understand the bias of the Lopezes for Noynoy. The late President Cory Aquino gave the network back on a silver platter to them after Edsa 1. No questions asked. Cory also handed over Meralco to the Lopezes in spite of the fact that the Lopezes already sold it to Kokoy Romualdez, as records show.

Gratitude is good but why prostitute press freedom in the process?

NOYNOY'S LOW ANTI-CORRUPTION STANDARDS

In, Capiz, the home province of Liberal Party vice presidential candidate Senator Mar Roxas, there is a popular movement called MAR.

No the group is not promoting the candidacy of Roxas. It’s surprising to know that its aim is the exact opposite. The Capiz-based MAR stands for Movement Against Roxas.

People behind MAR say that they want to send a message to Roxas that they’re unhappy with the way the Roxas family has treated Capiz. The province has not progressed much despite the fact that the Roxas family has been a force in national politics for a long, long time.

Among others, the Roxas family has produced a president, Pres. Manuel Roxas, an outstanding senator and one-time a leading presidential contender Senator Gerry Roxas, a congressman, Rep. Dinggoy Roxas and of course Sen. Mar Roxas who appears to be headed to be the next vice president based on surveys.

However, if the Movement Against Roxas is to be believed, Capiz has not profited much from the political success of the Roxas family.

Of course, Roxas’ people would probably dismiss MAR as the handiwork of former Agriculture Undersecretary Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante who is leading the gubernatorial race in Capiz and who apparently has no love lost for the senator who was one of the vocal critics of Bolante in the so-called fertilizer scam controversy.

Ultimately, however, it is the people of Capiz who would decide to vote for Sen. Mar Roxas or not. Whether he wins for the vice presidency or not, it would be embarrassing for the senator to lose in his own home province.

This is a ghost that will haunt him when he runs as president in 2016.

Roxas’ running mate, Liberal Party presidential candidate Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, is haunted by another ghost—the ghost of the security agency he put up shortly after his mother was installed by People Power in 1986.

It is indeed ironic that Aquino whose campaign is mainly fuelled by his anti-corruption stance is tainted by the accusations that he committed graft and corruption when he set up the Best Security Agency Inc. The company obtained contracts with a government agency and other enterprises vulnerable to government pressure.It might be coincidental or it might be deliberate but even the initials chosen for the security agency was intimidating. BSA, of course, is the initials of Senator Noynoy Aquino’s father, Senator Benigno Servillano Aquino Jr.

Noynoy is finding it difficult to exorcise the ghost of the BSA security agency and his attempt to explain his involvement only serves to underscore the fact that he is not “walang bahid” (untainted).

If you listen to his explanations on the BSA security agency, it would appear that Aquino has very low anti-corruption threshold.

His critics, of course, are making a big issue out of the fact that the security agency’s business address is no less than the Arlegui official residence of the President of the Philippines at that time.

And what was Noynoy’s response on why a security agency soliciting business with government agencies and sequestered government corporations is using Arlegui, the equivalent of the White House at that time?

The Manila Standard Today story by Christine Herrera which broke out this issue last March 26 quoted Aquino as saying: “What could I do? I lived in Arlegui at the time. What’s so illegal about that?”

If Aquino see nothing wrong with using the official residence of the Philippines as the official address of a security guard agency soliciting business with government agencies and sequestered companies, then we have to question his sense of propriety and delicadeza and more important his anti-corruption standards.

With an address like Arlegui and with the presidential son as one of the owners and vice president from 1986 to 1993, BSA did very well and had some 1,000 security guards in its employ. It serviced the government-owned Philippine National Construction Corp. (PNCC) which at that time was the operator of the South Luzon Expressway and the North Luzon Expressway, the facilities and buildings of sequestered companies under the Presidential Commission on Good Government, as well as private clients like AsiaTrust, Tanduay Distillers of taipan Lucio Tan and Uniwide.

Aquino has admitted that he is an incorporator of BSA but said in a press conference in Baliuag the other week that he divested from the company when his mother became president.

This explanation is confusing especially in the light of the fact that BSA used the Arlegui address which became the official residence of the President of the Philippines during the time of President Aquino.

Of course this explanation evades the fact that Noynoy was vice president of BSA from 1986 to 1993 meaning that he was involved in the company during the whole term of his mother as president.

Aquino also tried to explain that if he really wanted to take advantage of the Aquino presidency to get rich, it would not be through a security agency where he said “we’d be lucky to get five percent from the gross profits.”

He said that after he divested his shares from BSA he became just an employee of the agency and that he worked in the backroom.

The owners and officers of BSA were Noynoy’s uncle Len Oreta who was chairman of the board and president, Cipriano Lacson was director-treasurer, while Aquino, George Gaddi, Bienvenido Reyes, Alexander Lopez and Jacob Acuna were directors.

This issue actually was raised as early as 1987 when Mrs. Aquino was still president. I was a Malacañang reporter at that time and if I remember correctly, the justification cited by the Palace at that time was that the agency was put up to help give jobs to those who approach the presidential son.

There were talks at that time that BSA was part of the rumored Yellow Army.

This was apparently confirmed by Aquino himself when he admitted in the press conference in Bulacan that BSA was put up as a response to the threats from forces still loyal to President Marcos.

Then as now, Senator Noynoy Aquino has failed to explain why no graft and corruption was committed when he was involved in a security agency which had contracts with the government.

His critics are saying that his involvement in BSA as owner-incorporator and as vice president which he has admitted having a conflict of interest and violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act of 1965, which made it “unlawful for any person having family or close personal relations with any public official to capitalize or exploit or rake advantage of such family or close personal relations...”

Here we have no less than the son of the President of the Philippines involved in a security agency doing business with the government.

Senator Aquino should give a clear answer to this issue. This way, we would know if he is sincere in his promise to fight graft and corruption.

I was browsing through newspaper websites and I came across the MANILA STANDARD, editorial section, and this article by Jojo Robles caught my eye.

It is widely known that there have been reports about the medical reports about Noynoy Aquino having several disorders, most of them related to mental illnesses.

Of course the Yellow Camp (which consists of the Kamag anak Inc., Liberal Party, ABias-CBN, and the like) is calling it a fake and they blame their closest rival, the Nacionalista Party.

This article sheds some light on the authenticity of the said reports:

Readers of this column know that I rarely surrender my space to others in the form of extensive passages quoted verbatim. But today I willingly cede my allotted quota of words, editing only for style considerations, to someone who calls himself “Tomcat,” who recently wrote the following open letter (via Facebook) to leading presidential candidate Noynoy Aquino:

Dear Noynoy:

We were classmates at the Ateneo and I have no doubt that you would remember me even if we were not close. Hint: I was one of those who ribbed you about the low grade that Father Kreutz gave you in math because you could never seem to get your fractions right. Remember going ballistic over that ribbing? [Reverend Wiliam “Bill” Kreutz, SJ, is a long-time Ateneo teacher from New York who founded the Jesuit Volunteers of the Philippines—JR. All subsequent bracketed phrases are mine.]

Anyway, reading the psychological report that was posted on the Internet a few days ago certainly made me remember you. I heard you say on the news that the report was fake but you did admit that there were some things in it that were true. “Part truths” I think were your exact words. It fascinated me enough to want to read the report carefully to check out which were those things that were true.

Obvious things first, those facts that any of our classmates can confirm if asked. One of these is, as the report says, you have a labile disorder. This is whole truth. Even Father Gorospe would be distracted by your drooling during our oral exams. [The late Reverend Vitaliano Gorospe, SJ, was connected for a long time with the Ateneo Theology Department.] Father Ferriols, who made a point of showing he didn’t like you, would make side comments about it that led your classmates to give you the nickname “Cooper,” a reference to Cupertino school where we would teach Catechism to retarded children. I, however, never called you Cooper. [Reverend Roque Ferriols, SJ, taught Filipino Philosophy at Ateneo.]

The report says that you have a “major depressive disorder.” Well, I honestly don’t know if that is true. What I do know is that in school you were very temperamental and had sudden mood swings. Isang minuto, nakikikain ka kay Brudda Francis, maya’t maya nagagalit ka na. Many of our classmates can attest to witnessing scenes like this.

The report said that you used to go with your mom to see Dr. Manuel Escudero. That is a whole truth. I remember seeing you at Tito Maning’s high-rise apartment on Roxas Boulevard when we were still kids. Tito Maning was a consultant with the WHO here in Manila but he was also a psychiatrist who treated only the high society people in Manila. Even Imelda Marcos was his patient. Unfortunately, so was my mom who suffered from insecurities due to my dad’s numerous infidelities.

Tito Maning’s wife, Tita Jo, was a very good artist who had a couple of exhibits of her work before they left Manila for good a few years after martial law was declared. They lived in Topeka, Kansas. After they left, I kept a correspondence for a while with their very cute daughter Nina who I am sure you remember. I had such a crush on her. Maybe you did too. She used to talk to us “little folk” in the sala of their apartment while the “big folk” would lock themselves in the room and discuss “big folk” matters. She wanted to go to ballet school or some dance school which she did, I think, and I eventually lost track of her.

About your smoking marijuana, I also can’t say if that is wholly true. What I do know is that you would try to tag along with a group of students that would hang out with Ma’am Gloria Arroyo. [Yes, President Arroyo herself.] Mga students niya sa Economics. She was always surrounded by bright and handsome students kaya hindi ka pinapansin. Pati si Ma’am Placer, she never gave you the time of day kasi people said you were “medyo weird” and your grades were mababa per her standards.

Pero, you still tried to hang out with those guys. Trying hard to belong ba. I know those guys would drink na kasama pa si Miss Rosales na pag lasing na, kumakanta ng Spanish songs in Spanish. They would drink dozens of bottles of beer at Shakey’s Katipunan because Mrs. Ramos (our Spanish teacher in case you don’t remember) owned the restaurant. This group was also known to also smoke joints in the college auditorium, up in the closed space where the spotlights were. So, if you were hanging out with them then, you were probably also smoking marijuana too.

The report said you had a flight attendant girlfriend. This is another whole truth. I will not mention her name here to protect her but she was a PAL stewardess. I found out about this because I was on a flight with Father Samson [probably Ateneo de Davao president Reverend Antonio S. Samson] once and she was the one who seated us. When she found out we were from Ateneo, she introduced herself and said she was the girl friend of an Atenean and mentioned your name. Father Samson then asked jokingly if you were a good boyfriend to her. She shrugged and said you were “okay” but she was bothered because you were “too conservative.” You didn’t even like to kiss her daw because you were saving her for the wedding night. And you insisted that she dress very conservatively. Jealous boyfriend ka daw. No wonder that relationship ended. Maybe that’s why you got so depressed over it.

About the report. I know that [Ateneo-based Jesuit psychologist Reverend] Tito Caluag is one of your best friends. His group of “friends” are some of the richest and most influential people in the country today. I know that you used to frequently visit his home. He hosts get-togethers where things that are too esoteric for me are the subjects of discussion. At one time, this group of yours even discussed the ousting of [Ateneo president] Father [Bienvenido] Nebres because Tito Caluag had his own ideas on how Ateneo should be run. Maybe your closeness to him is why he was the one you went to when you were depressed and why he was the one who handled your case and signed your psychological report. To keep things quiet.

But I confess I actually don’t know. I do know that Tito Caluag was at one time your sister Kris’ father confessor. He may not be a very trustworthy father confessor, though, because many have heard him say aloud that “walang ginawa si Kris Aquino dito sa Ateneo kundi habulin si Alvin Patrimonio at mag-emote sa quadrangle”.

Anyway, yun muna. Good luck on your presidential run. If you become president of the Philippines, that would be really something, huh? From “Cooper” to “Mr. President” when brighter and more scheming Ateneans like Mar Roxas and Dick Gordon have not been able to make it is an achievement that Ripley should feature.

AbNOY Conspiracy: Should We Even Be Surprised?

After Noynoy's alleged PSYCH RECORDS was released, ABias-CBN picked up the news and that is how it got out to mass media. Naturally, the Liberal Party camp called out the Nacionalista that they were the ones who surfaced these medical records. They also said that this is merely a Black Propaganda towards their Standard-Bearer (what standards??) Noynoy (Now called abNoy) Aquino.

Of course they would say that, since their leader is so 'GOOD' and 'HOLY', how could he ever be mentally challenged? (i mean that with utmost sarcasm, btw.)

It is so sad to see what this news report has turned into. Where the release of important/crucial/significant news of a leading presidential candidate that is NOW being tainted as false and downplayed to being black propaganda is part of the dirty tactics that the YELLOW CAMP most often relies on especially that the elections is a few weeks away.

• ABias-CBN was the one who first picked up the news and said that it came from the NP. (We all know that the Television Company is PRO-Aquino simply because of their Chairman's (CEO Gabby Lopez) utang na loob or debt to the Aquino family for putting them in network and media power. And the fact that the dubbed 'Queen of Philippine Media' Kris Aquino is Noy's sister and biggest supporter.)

• Fr. Caluag, the Atenean priest who purpotedly signed Noynoy's medical report and also a solid AQUINO supporter (*check picture), denied that he signed the document and that the signature is a forgery. • In light with the previous point, LP bet Frank Drilon (who is also condemning the NP and Sen. Villar about the medical reports) once said about Villar's alleged reports of not really being poor: "It is not about the source, but the CONTENT." What about this news about Noynoy, Frank? • Atty. Adel Tamano was on point when he said that this report about Noynoy's medical records may even benefit the Liberal Party more since the release of this news will definitely allow the LP to point fingers at Sen. Villar and the Nacionalista Party. (Once again, they have MORE AMMO in their HATE-THEMED CAMPAIGN. Can't you see that all their moves and strategies is to put others down since there is not a single good thing that can be made out of NOYNOY AQUINO?)

• And lastly, let us focus on NOYNOY himself. What was his initial reaction to the medical report? HE CHALLENGED VILLAR TO A LIE DETECTOR TEST. What in the world was he thinking? SO does it mean that when an issue, a valid one at that, is thrown at Aquino, the best he could do is throw it back? And notice that his challenge is not even relevant to the issue. OBVIOUSLY, AQUINO is scared shitless that this news about him being mentally and emotionally unfit will be re-confirmed by a secondary opinion so he tries to shift the negative attention to Sen. Villar. And also notice that all the Yellow Camp is saying the same thing: THE DOCUMENT IS A FAKE, LET US CHALLENGE VILLAR TO A LIE DETECTOR TEST. umm... okay, those two statements do not match at all. Noynoy is simply beating around the bush until they find another black propaganda against Villar.

Black propaganda or not, the refusal of Noynoy Aquino to take up the challenge of Manny Villar for both of them to undergo psychiatric evaluation, after the bogus psych report on Aquino’s alleged mental disorder was made public, will do more harm to Aquino’s candidacy than it would Villar on the Liberal Party (LP)’s claim that this fake report was leaked out to ABS-CBN by the Nacionalista Party.

The reason is simple. Since Noynoy Aquino indicated his interest in running for the presidency, talk started about his alleged “autism” and of his being bi-polar.

While this was hardly brought to fore by the media, the fact is that the talk on this alleged mental and emotional disorders suffered by Aquino, kept coming. He has been called “abnoy” the street name for “abnormal,” and is still being called that by many, in political conversations and gabfests.

This being the case, for Noynoy and his LP to merely call the bogus psychological report black propaganda will hardly get the people to buy that, especially as he refuses to take up the challenge of undergoing a psychiatric test.

After all, as the argument goes, if he is psychologically fit and has no mental or emotional disorder, it should follow that he wouldn’t be afraid to take that test.

Like it or not, the mental health of a candidate for the presidency is a valid issue.

Besides, it is not unknown for people with some disorder or illness, to hide these things.

There is no question that a presidential candidate must be open about the state of his health, as he owes this to the people, whom he claims to want to serve.

Some years back, during the 2004 presidential election campaign, The Tribune published a report on then presidential candidate, Sen. Raul Roco, and quoted reliable medical sources saying that he was suffering from prostrate cancer.

This was denied by Roco and his camp, but in the end, there could no longer be any denial, and he had to admit that he was stricken with prostrate cancer. He died shortly afterwards.

But wasn’t that unfair of Roco, being a presidential candidate, to keep his state of health from the public?

While it is true that he had no chance of winning the presidency, what would have happened if he had won the presidency, only to die in office shortly?

Then too, the Aquinos have already proved earlier that they do keep health problems to themselves.

The prime example of this was their prevarication of the cancer stage of their mother, the late Corazon Aquino.

When the cancer state of Cory was announced, she was already on the fourth stage and was a terminal case. Yet none of the members of the Aquino family made this public, making it appear that the cancer was curable.

In much the same way, a denial does not necessarily mean that one who is perceived as having mental problems is not mentally challenged.

That the health and especially the mental health of a president is of great importance can be found in the Constitution as the Charter empowers the Cabinet (majority) to inform the legislature when it finds the president unfit or unable or incapacitated to discharge the presidential functions.

Not only does the Constitution mandate the Cabinet to evaluate the mental and physical health of the president, but it also empowers the Cabinet to stop the president from discharging his functions should the Cabinet members find that he is not equipped to handle such duties and functions.

This alone makes the state of health — mental or emotional — of a presidential candidate a very valid issue.

One who forays into politics must be able to take on the sling and arrows hurled at him, including his being perceived as suffering from autism or is bi-polar or anything else.

Demanding apologies from those he suspects to have leaked this report out doesn’t fly.

Neither does his denial of it.
